Frequently Asked Questions
Does ESFH provide guidelines for apheresis procedures?
There are many indications to perform a therapeutic apheresis procedure. The ESFH is recommending to follow commonly accepted (national, international or regional) guidelines, and otherwise it is desirable to achieve IRB approval if apheresis treatment is undertaken.
Internationally recommended guidelines based on evidence based medicine are published on a regular basis by the American Society for Apheresis in the Journal of Clinical Apheresis. For the latest version see: Schwartz J, et al. J Clin Apher 2016; 31: 149-338 (available in PubMed and in the Journal of Clinical Apheresis).
